Not often, you bump into a group where practically all members have different musical and cultural backgrounds. The Amsterdam-based Jerboah is such a group. The six musicians are rooted in rock, jazz, theater and contemporary classical music, but found each other on the stage. Three of these multi-instrumentalists play recorders (“blokfluit”). This, in combination with vocals, electric guitar, synthesizer and drums, results in wonderful post-pop and art-rock. The vibe is alienating, the sound is non-western and the style is hard to be pigeonholed. These are musical explorers.
